Version control brings a much needed level of flexibility to Google Data Studio.
You can now develop and edit your dashboard while others are still able to view, download and interact with it. Once you’re sure your edits are final (and only then), push your changes to live for viewers.
Here are the simple steps to start working with version control in Data Studio.
1. In Edit mode, navigate to the ‘File’ menu and select ‘Publishing Settings’.

2. Click to turn on manual report publishing. Once you do this, you will need to click the ‘Publish’ button that appears in the right-hand corner of the Edit screen if you wish to push any changes to the live version.

Viewers of the dashboard will only see the published version but editors will be able to switch back and forth using the new dropdown at the top-centre of the Edit screen between the draft and the live version.
